Cork City to attend SD Europe network meeting

Representatives of Cork City FC will attend the inaugural Supporters Direct Europe network meeting on September 5th and 6th in Hamburg, Germany.

Board members Mike Derham and Niamh O’Mahony will be amongst fan-owned clubs, national organisations and supporters’ groups from 16 countries involved in the two-day conference, which will be hosted by HFC Falke e.V.

FORAS and Cork City FC worked with Supporters Direct Europe and other partners around Europe for the ‘Improving Football Governance through Supporter Involvement and Community Ownership‘ project (2011 – 2013).

The network that has grown across Europe since is akin to a business network and seeks to share knowledge and best practices, while giving peer support when needed. Most recently, the story of FORAS and Cork City was shared at the Fútbol Popular conference in Murcia, Spain.

Over the course of two days, the participants will discuss ideas, experiences, successes and challenges from the past season, and will also look ahead to the future of SD Europe and the network it has served since 2007. The weekend will culminate with an ‘away trip’ to support Falke, at Rissener SV II.

The following groups, organisations and clubs will be represented at the event: Conseil National des Supporters de Football – CNSF, Federación de Accionistas y Socios del Fútbol Español – FASFE, Israfans, Norsk Supporterallianse – NSA, Supporters in Campo, Supporters Direct, Svenska Fotbollssupporterunionen – SFSU, Unsere Kurve, Antwerp Community Trust, Sinya Bulgaria, APOEL Supporters Trust, Brondby Supporters Trust, Fan Trust Aarhus, Aalborg Supporters’ Trust, Supporterscollectief Groningen, Wielka Polonia, Associação de Adeptos Sportinguistas, Eskabee, and hosts HFC Falke e.V.
