European club visit report

As part of the Clubs and Supporters for Better Governance in Football project, Cork City FC recently hosted visitors from Malmo FF and Schalke 04.

Our visitors, Thomas Kirschner and Florian Hartmann from Schalke and Pierre Nordberg and Pontus Hansson from Malmo, met a variety of personnel from the club during their visit to discuss a range of ideas.

On Thursday evening, an open session was held at UCC, our premier club partner, featuring a number of speakers: Dr Seán Ó Conaill from the UCC Sports Law Clinic, former FORAS board member and current acting-CEO of SD Europe, Niamh O’Mahony, current FORAS secretary, Darren O’Keeffe, Club de Accionariado Popular Ciudad de Murcia member, Maria Angeles Nuñez.

On Friday, our visitors met the Lord Mayor at City Hall and paid a visit to the wonderful facilities at the Mardyke Arena, before the highlight of their trip, a visit to Turner’s Cross to see City’s 3-0 win over Derry City.
