hummel FORAS Cup Round-up
An early start of 10am on Saturday 7th August 2010 in glorious sunshine at the LeisureWorld Sam Allen Pitches in Churchfield saw thirteen squads battle it out for the title of champions of the Foras Hummel Cup 2010.
With a healthy mixture of the good, the not so good and the very hungover, the groups were fought out to the quarter final stage where there was a dramatic swing in Group 4 that saw Dynamo Horeshoe progress at the expense of Norfolk and Chance by virtue of one goal in the very last minute.
Ardmore Rangers met the team representing the Turner’s Cross Tavern in the final with many expecting a close encounter after the latter scored a very impressive 34 goals in their group stage. Alas, Ardmore Rangers brushed them aside with ease with a final score of 7-2.
Ultimately, defending champions Ardmore Rangers were to retake their crown in impressive style, only failing to win on one occasion when Bruised & Busted battled them to a hard fought 3-3 draw in their second group match.
Captain Declan Carey stepped forward to lift the cup, kindly supplied by The Cork Trophy Centre, for the second year running to the warm applause of the large sun baked crowd before heading off to Mulligans in Parnell Place for a few well deserved pints courtesy of Beamish!
Will anybody be able to stop them next time round?
