Pat Lyons Elected Chairman

Following a Board of Management meeting held after last night’s AGM, Pat Lyons has been elected as the Chairman of the FORAS Trust and Cork City Football Club for the coming year.

Outgoing Chairman Mick Ring said “It has been a massive honour for me to have held this position for almost two years. Having grown up supporting this club, words cannot express my gratitude to all of those who I have worked with in that time. For personal reasons, I have not stood for re-election, but look forward to remaining on the Board of Management, as well as continuing to work with the club in a voluntary capacity.”

“I would like to wish Pat Lyons all the very best for his term as Chair. Pat has done monumental work for the club in the last few years, and I could not think of a more suitable candidate to represent FORAS and the club.”

Pat, who is in his second term on the Board of Management and is also on the club’s Infrastructure Working Group, said: “It is an honour to take on the position of Chairman of the club and the trust. I would like to thank Mick Ring for his contribution over the last two years. I look forward to continuing to work closely with the members of the Board of Management, the CEO Tim Murphy, the Club Administrator, Éanna Buckley and of course John Caulfield and his team. This is an exciting time; with great anticipation surrounding the start of the new season, as we celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the club. I would like to call on all Cork City fans, and FORAS trustees, who are after all the owners of this great club, to get behind the club, as we look to make 2014 a year to remember.”

John Kennedy will remain in his position as Vice-Chairman for the coming year, with Darren O’Keeffe having been elected Secretary and Wyon Stansfeld taking over as Treasurer. The club and the trust would also like to thank Pat Healy and Stephen O’Callaghan, both of whom have stepped down from the Board, having completed their three year terms.
