O’Sullivan Steps Down as Cork City Chairman

After helping to oversee the club’s return to the Premier Division of the Airtricity League, John O’Sullivan has announced his decision to step down as chairman of Cork City FC and FORAS.

John has been involved with the Trust since its foundation over three years ago and will remain a trustee and active member of the co-operative.

“I’m very proud of what has been achieved over the past three years,” he said. “However, it is also important that new blood keeps coming through onto the board so that ideas remain fresh and reflective of where trustees want our club go.”

FORAS board member Jonathan O’Brien will act as Interim Chairman until the Trust’s AGM early next Spring, when members will be given an opportunity to get involved in the day-to-day management of their football club. Pat Lyons has been named interim vice-chairman.

Jonathan said: “The Board would like to express their gratitude to John for his hard work over the past three years. We have an important few months ahead as we look forward to Premier Division football and we will be calling on our trustees to get involved and play their part in the coming weeks.”

Cork City FC is solely owned by its near 700 members. Anyone interested in becoming an integral part of their local Airtricity League side should email [email protected].
